Halloween pics

The kids had a fun time trick or treating on Friday. They were so excited, they could hardly wait to go. Dave told them they had to wait until it started getting dark, which was just plain torture. When they were finally ready, Elly was about done sitting in the stroller, so I ended up staying home with her to hand out candy to anyone coming by our house. We only had four groups of kids come by, maybe 12 kids total. That was a bit disappointing, but what can you do? Between the leftovers in our bowl and the kids' treasures, we ended up with tons of candy. I'm going to have to sort through it and just throw stuff out, otherwise the kids are going to be on a sugar high for the next month or so... :p

CANDY! That is the constant cry at our house. I'm about ready to throw it all in the trash.

Your kids all look fabulous for the holiday. I'm glad they had fun. Too bad about so few kids coming around. Our neighborhood is insane, and the weather was so nice we had easily over a hundred trick or treaters. Luckily, we were prepared and had plenty of goodies. This year, we gave kids the choice of a little toy (stickers, parachute guys, pencils, balloons) or some candy. Most of the first people coming picked the candy, but after an hour or so, ALL THE KIDS picked the non-candy items. We had to start giving them a handful of candy even if they chose a toy. We ran out of toys, but had plenty of left over candy. Funny, huh? I think next year we'll get about a tenth of the candy we got this year, and double the non-candy. I could probably go out now and get a ton of stuff on sale. I may have to do a post on this to spread the word.

They look so cute in their costumes! We went to a trunk-or-treat and saw the cutest idea to help alleviate the candy problem. A guy was dressed as Sporticus (sp?) and his wife was Stephanie from LAzytown. She handed out little goodie bags with stickers and he handed out apples! It was so adorable, but I guess that would only work with people you know since most parents wouldn't let their kids eat an apple from a stranger. :)
