What's in your detergent?

Interesting article, you all should read it.

Toxins linger even in clean laundry

Which leads me to this week's Random Poll Friday. Do you use "green" detergent? If not, do you think you may switch?

Sounds interesting. Have you tried homemade laundry detergent? I'd consider it if I knew how well it worked.

absolutely! we're slowly transitioning a lot of our household stuff to "green"

I'm not opposed. There's one I just noticed at Costco a couple of weeks ago, but can't for the life of me remember the name. Thought I'd give it a try. Now, I just have to get over there and get some.

Jeni, I've never tried homemade. We've been using Melaleuca for a while, and I really like it. It's kind of an "in-between". It's not petroleum based, and there's no bleach or anything being used, but I'm not sure it's quite as "green" as some other detergents out there. Even though they claim it is.

Shan, does Costco sell much environmentally friendly stuff? We're thinking about maybe getting a membership.

Our local Costco (Central California) carries "Ecos," an eco-friendly detergent (or so it claims). Unfortunately, my family had an allergic reaction to it, so we're back to Kirkland brand... but maybe not for long if I can make some myself! Thanks for the article!

You don't have an option for "Green" laundry detergent, but regular dish soap. Although, I should find a "Green" dish soap since we actually EAT off of it...
