Moving on...

With life. The day I have been looking forward to for many years is now quickly approaching. And I don't know if I'm ready! I'm going to miss this valley terribly. I'm going to miss the mountains. I'm going to miss friends. I often wish we could stay here, but it's not to be. I keep thinking I should be more excited about moving, and I guess I'm slowly getting there. We got pre-approval for a mortgage today. We have been recommended a couple of realtors, and are going to choose which one to go with today or tomorrow. Then we are going to narrow down what kind of houses we want to look at, and where. Dave and I and the girls are going for a house hunting trip 4/27-4/30 (Dave's mom is coming up to stay with the boys). That should be exciting, haha! The movers are coming to pack on 5/22, load on 5/23, and our stuff should get to the new place sometime between 5/27 and 6/2. We'll hopefully have a place to move into by then, if not, the company will pay for temporary housing and our stuff to be stored for up to 30 days. Dave's first day of work is 6/9. Think we're going to be busy these next couple of months??? I'm so emotional about all of this, and I'm guessing just having had a baby doesn't help that aspect at all. The day the moving company called and we scheduled the date, I almost cried. I'm hoping that as we keep moving forward with this process, I'm going to get more excited about this "next step". But it's harder than I thought it would be...

You will love being moved by a company (well, hopefully. There are good and bad ones, we got a GREAT one. They have women do the packing because they believe women are more conscious and careful of people's belongings).

I missed where you decided to go, though...

Good luck house-hunting! We did that a bit last month but have decided to wait another six months, at least. Too much to contemplate with a new baby on the way, and we already have plenty of room in this rented house.

It's tough when it all actually starts to happen. Exciting, too, though. Too many emotions all at the same time. What else is there to do but have a good cry? ;) Good luck with your house hunting - I hope you find a house you love!!

Yaaaaay, Doreen, but yes, emotions are probably running high because it's FINALLY REAL!! Gosh, I am seriously looking forward to the day I can say the same. Everybody we've grown to love has/will be moving on..time flies sooo fast!

I missed where you're headed too! Where's the landing zone located? I'm so happy you're having a moving company come too! It was so great to have someone else come and pack our things, load, move and unpack them. It really took a lot of stress off of an already stressed out family! Good luck with things and enjoy that beautiful Cache Valley while you can!

We're headed South, hehe. We're going to go from being stuck inside all winter to being stuck inside all summer, yippee! Should be fun. :p I've been spending tons of time looking at houses online. My poor neglected children have been watching way more TV than is good for them... But it'll all be over soon. Wish I could fast-forward a couple of months right now...

Larissa, I figured that was you. ;o) How's the baby?

A moving company: How nice! And to have the company pay, too! We should all be so lucky :0)

Best of luck to you. If you need anything let us know. Our phone # is still the same.

I can empathize with some of those feelings too:). I'm so glad you guys have a place to move now and are getting all the details taken care of - exciting!

Oh boy, can I relate. I've never had a moving company, though our new company at least paid for this latest move. Now is a great time to buy, and buy one you REALLY love. Houses in Texas don't appreciate like they do in the west and you don't take much equity unless you stay for a long time.

Hey, give me a call when you get here! Even if you don't have time to come have dinner with us on your hunting trip, we'll at least need to do something after the move.

I love the funny "ha ha" for the poor person who will watch your neglected children. LOL

Good luck and I hope you find the energy to survive the packing.

oh, do you know people in Houston or do you want me to forward a few email addresses of people who know school districts etc.

Hi Doreen! Do you remember me? I met you through DJ. Wow I just saw the pics of Elly's birth and read your posts on it. You are so amazing and brave for having her at home. I'm fighting back the tears right now at your post on her birth. She is perfect and I'm glad to see that all went so well. If I didn't have to have c-sections I would want to try it,just from your post and pics. It sounded so perfect.

I'm so excited that you're coming down our way. I didn't realize that you had a baby (gorgeous slide show, btw, I sobbed my eyes out). Congratulations!!! Feel free to email or call me if you want to talk about the city/suburbs/whatever of our fair city.

We were moved by a moving company when we moved from Utah to KC three years ago. Let me give you a suggestion. THEY PACK EVERYTHING!!! If you want to make sure that what goes is stuff that is worth moving, carefully go through your stuff BEFORE they get there. We had some strange stuff packed (garbage - though not yucky garbage, broken picture frames, random laundry) that we finally were able to go through thoroughly when we moved again 2 months ago. If I had it to do again, I'd have given my house a thorough cleaning and organization before they showed up. Of course, I only had about a week to prepare since we moved so quickly, but if I could have I would have.

Also, if there is any possibility that you will be moving again, save your boxes. Movers' boxes are absolutely fantastic. We saved almost every one of them, and they made our next move a piece o' cake. I also carefully smoothed and stacked all the paper they wrapped everything in. Not only did it come in handy for the move, but it also makes great drawing paper for the kids!

Good luck on the move. It is amazing to watch the packers pack your entire house in less than a day, and then to watch the movers move the boxes into the new house. Holy cow! The guys that did ours were carrying 3 and 4 boxes on their backs AT ONCE! It was really amazing to watch. :)
