It's cold outside

So we had to get all dressed in our winter stuff before going out. Kaylee got very excited about this new adventure. She got her boots and brought them to me, all the while exclaiming "Mommy, boobs!" It's just too cute when they learn to talk...

Black Friday Madness

Yeah, I wasn't going to go, but since we had a pretty peaceful morning, I decided to take the kids to the store. I knew Smith's wouldn't be too terribly busy, and they had some good sales, so off we went. The parking lot was packed, but the store is big enough that it didn't seem too overly crowded. They had pillows buy 1 get 1 free, so I got us all new pillows (ours were getting old and yucky). Their ad also said that boxed DVD sets were $20. I went to see if they had Monk, and they had seasons 1, 2 and 4. I figured I could get 1 and 2, and then ask for 3 and 4 for Christmas. I thought they would be $20 each, minus a $4 instore coupon. Well, when I went to pay, they rang up for $14.99! Take off the instore coupon, and an extra 5% on my student card, and they came out to $10.44 a piece. Wow! Needless to say, I went back and got season 4, too. I got three seasons for $30! That's a $90 savings! I'm beyond excited. :o) Now I'll just ask for season 3 for Christmas, and my collection will be complete. I'm glad I ended up going, to say the least. Going back home was crazy, though. I got around most of the traffic, but I was sure glad I wasn't planning on going to any other stores. :p

What a busy week!

It seems like there's been something going on every single day this week. Had my natural childbirth/natural family living group meeting on Tuesday, and choir afterwards. We went way late for the women's choir, as our concert is next Friday. I actually ended up leaving early, at almost 9. But I had to get home so Kaylee could have her nursies and go to bed. :p Wednesday I had my first book show, and didn't get home till 9. It was lots of fun, though. Only 5 people came, but we had a good time. I'm still waiting on a few more outside orders, we'll see what the total is going to end up being. Yesterday Dave was busy all evening, and didn't get home till 10. Needless to say, we've had a few late nights (for us, seeing as we normally go to bed at 9:30, haha). This morning I felt all ambitious and wanted to go to the store, but Kaylee passed out at 10:30 and slept for a little over an hour. So I thought we'd go after she woke up, but then Bryan proclaimed he had a headache and wanted to rest, and promptly fell asleep on the couch. So, here I am, still haven't gotten anything done. I don't want to start the laundry, either, cause I don't want to wake up Bryan (we don't have a laundry room, so the w/d hookup is in the kitchen, which is essentially the same room as the living room...). I suppose I could fold all the clothes piled up in the spare bedroom...

Yay!

It's been a good day (when you disregard Kaylee's whining...). I got a $66 check from Usborne (my comission), and I also got a new bra. I'm proud to say that I now fit in a 34D. That may still seem huge to some people, but when you're coming down from a 34H, it's a major accomplishment, hehe. :p Oh, and we didn't get 5 inches of snow, like weather.com had warned us. Very happy about that, too. :o)

So much for my weight loss...

...yeah, I'm so in trouble. The store where I do most of my gorcery shopping just started carrying Milka chocolate. All different flavors, too. It's a good thing I only go shopping once a week... :p

In other news, little Belen came home Friday. It wasn't pneumonia after all, just a viral infection that she had a hard time shaking. She's doing much better now. However, no hope for decannulation at this time. Looks like it's going to be another long winter...

I have decided...

...that I really don't like getting calls at hours people don't normally get calls. The reason is that getting calls late at night or early in the morning usually means that Belen is sick and at the ER, and I get to go to my friend's house to be with her other two kids while my friend and her husband get their stuff together for Belen and my friend to go down to the Children's Hospital. Don't get me wrong, I love that I'm able to help, no matter the time of day (or night). That's what friends are for. :o) What I don't like is the fact that Belen is sick enough to need medical care. Looks like this time she has pneumonia. I hope she won't be sick for very long, and they can return home soon. What a rollercoaster ride this has got to be...

Found this on another blog

Another car seat saftey video. This one is about keeping your child rear facing as long as possible. It's worth watching. :o)

Vote!

Mothering Magazine is sponsering a contest in search for an international breastfeeding symbol. They received hundreds of submissions and it's now been narrowed down to the top three. Hopefully the icon will become mainstream and can be used to locate breastfeeding-friendly establishments, mother's lounges, etc.

What do you think...

...of the new look??? Too bright? I can't decide if I like the colors the way they are...

Recipe

Thanks for the idea, Leia! :o)

Crockpot Hawaiian Haystacks

Combine in crockpot 1 cup water, 1 porkroast (or 4-5 chicken breasts), 2 cans cream of mushroom soup, 1 big can crushed pineapple. Cook on high for about 6 hours, or low 8-10 hours, until meat is really tender and shreds easily. Server over rice, and top with rice noodles. Yum!

For your holiday shopping convenience...

...I set up an eShow, hehe. :p

This nearly made me cry...

Dave always teases me about being obsessed with carseat safety. I just can't help it, though. And seeing videos like this one really just reinforces my "obsession". I wish people would realize how important it is to restrain children properly.

Halloween

Oooohhhh, it was cold outside. Good thing the kids' costumes all were roomy enough to fit winter coats underneath, hehe. Everyone had a great time! The past two years, we went to the student dorms after trick or treating around our own apartment complex, but this year we decided to hit a "real" neighborhood. So after going through our apartment complex, we put Kaylee in the stroller and went for a walk. We went to the neighborhood where we know a lot of people from church, and it was so much fun! The older people were all excited to have some kids come by, and that alone was worth it. The kids ended up with way too much candy (of course), which should last us till Christmas. :p

ready to go out

look at all that candy!
